Hong Kong was once a fishing harbor, however, due to the economic boom and social transformation, the local fishermen have to come ashore and no longer live on fishing. Gradually, the strong connection between fisheries and Hong Kong is fading away. Consequently, the local fishing ballad that witnesses the local fishermen’s fishing and sailing is now losing its original context.

The fishing ballad is a kind of folk related to sailing, fishing, and living at sea. Since the local fisheries and the related cultural conservation have not gained much attention, it is hard for people to possess an overall understanding of local fishermen’s culture. Fisherfolks’ Ballads aims to break down the communication barriers between visitors and local fishermen culture via sharing fishing ballads and exploring intrinsic meanings.
